Overview
The Democratic System Unitary is the governing state in Komodo. It is the political order that spans the coreworlds, midworlds, outworlds, stations, and sectors where Komodo operates.
Institutions and Collapse
The unitary state appears through agencies, laws, and political institutions: the UTDA, UDH, Unitary Senate, Unitary Special Intelligence, Department of Commerce, Unitary Transportation Safety Board, Supreme Court, Defense League, and sector governments. Its authority is strongest in Dannen City and weaker in the outworlds, where distance, communications delay, cost, corruption, and cultural hostility create the space for Basra Kusniqa Camden’s company.
The state loses legitimacy through the same crises Komodo exploits. Capital Mining corruption damages the centralist party; the Victory Salon raid makes Komodo look faster than official response teams; the Lion’s terror campaign exposes security failures; and the Initiative Program’s treasury release triggers the unitary market crash. The final collapse comes when the Senate is stormed, Joel DeSilva is killed by the Silver Spear, and competing factions claim what remains of the state.
