Overview

Peggy Mercure is a supporting character in “Dark Peak.” She is Martin Mercure’s wife and appears to Irving Platt on the moor after Sea Witch crashes.

Role

Before Peggy appears directly, Mercure reacts with anger when Platt mentions his wife and says that Peggy was the only place he wanted to be during his worst nights. This establishes her as the center of his homesickness and grief.

On the moor, Peggy is dressed for a night out and wears an evening jacket charred at the edges. She asks Platt whether he has seen her husband and tells him that no one can get out anymore. When Mercure emerges from the mist, Peggy recognizes him and runs to him. Their reunion helps reveal that the moor is a place where the dead are gathered with the people they have lost.
