Overview
Sean is a supporting character in Screwdriver. He is portrayed by Matt Munroe. Sean is Emily’s former partner from Nebraska, where he works in agro-engineering with his brother and travels around Omaha and Lincoln.
Sean is thirty-three, strongly built, and appears at Robert and Melissa’s house with stubble, a stressed expression, and a flannel he has not changed in a day.
Role in the Film
Sean is first present through Emily’s account of their breakup. Emily says he left her and that he treated her art as a waste of time. Robert later frames Emily and Sean’s relationship as seven years without children and asks whether Emily ever cheated, while Emily says she and Sean were bound before God.
Sean comes to the house after receiving messages from Emily about forgiveness and the mercy of the Lord. He tells Emily he loves her and wants her back, but he becomes alarmed by her behavior and believes she may have set him up.
Emily interprets Sean through Robert’s chamber exercise as the predicted tempter or messenger. She orders him out, says he is not welcome in her life, and threatens to pull out his fingernails. Sean is last seen departing through the garage after Emily rejects him.
