Overview
Chester Beauchamp is a central character in “Network States.” He is a Portland gun store employee and Axis naval player in HOIMMRT, where he is known as Dongwaffen. His leak of a Soviet battle plan begins Trapgate.
Biography
Beauchamp is introduced through the Axis faction as a naval leader associated with BigIron6. The narrator initially believes that Dongwaffen lives near Boise, but BigIron6 later says that this location was part of operational security.
During Trapgate, Beauchamp posts a Soviet battle-plan document in the public Axis General Discord under the Dongwaffen handle. He says he obtained it from the laptop of Vera Velasquez after gaining access to Vera’s apartment under false political and social pretenses. BigIron6 then confirms that the document is real and that Axis high command has already used it to prepare the invasion of the Soviet Union.
Beauchamp is later identified publicly as a forty-one-year-old gun store employee in Portland. He is hospitalized after Ethan Frunn attacks him outside his house with a steel pipe.
After the attack, Reserve Admiral zinner is placed in command of the German Atlantic Fleet with support from the Italian High Admiral Spengloni. Beauchamp presses charges against Frunn, while death threats are sent to Beauchamp’s workplace and Soviet players attempt to get him fired.
