Overview
The Komodo Unyielding hangar disaster is a fatal explosion aboard Komodo Unyielding in Komodo. It kills Shanvi Dumindak and six engineers, injures Basra Kusniqa Camden, and changes the direction of Komodo.
Event
During a tour for territorial governors, a deuterium transport drone loses control in Unyielding’s hangar and rams atmosphere-control equipment. Shanvi reaches the hangar in a spacesuit and refuses to open the airlock while barefaced crew remain inside. Basra arrives in an emergency EVA harness because Shanvi has taken the only available suit. As the drone keeps firing its thrusters and remote access fails, a gas leak reaches the burning thrusters, detonating the deuterium cargo and tearing a hole through the hull.
The disaster is initially treated as a catastrophic accident or possible outside sabotage. Zachary Crowe later redirects suspicion toward unitary malware and Thomas Monroe. Much later, Basra discovers Crowe’s drone_ovr files and learns that the disaster was an internal automated attack using a governor-tour preset and a drone matching the transport specifications. That discovery leads directly to Crowe’s death in the Black Sciences warehouse.
