Overview

Shanvi Dumindak is an Akimi administrator and major character in Komodo. Basra Kusniqa Camden hires her as Komodo’s first major administrative officer, and Shanvi becomes both the company’s stabilizing mind and Basra’s closest personal relationship.

Shanvi is introduced as tall, confident, and compassionate, with a kind face and a richly patterned scarf. Later she is described with longer curling hair, jade earrings, and a composed public presence that can hide exhaustion, fear, and grief.

Role

Before joining Komodo, Shanvi has a social-work degree, has served as executive director of the Akimi Student Union, and works through Unitary Social Support Services at a Soltero women’s shelter. Basra hires her after a live test with Lieutenant Ju-long Haines, where Shanvi argues that constant, visible security can stabilize deep-space development.

Shanvi gives Komodo much of its institutional form. She manages hiring, scheduling, fuel expansion, board logistics, and later the move into Akimi Free Space. Through her family and the Makiwa pilgrimage, Basra reaches Akimset and Mount Aket. Shanvi also creates Komodo Special Projects and Defense after a cyberattack warning, but her decision to hide Zachary Crowe aboard Unyielding becomes one of Komodo’s most consequential risks.

Shanvi’s relationship with Basra is personal as well as institutional. She comforts Basra after Linet Delacroix’s hazing, guides her through meditation, and later confronts her over Sysdef, Susanna Sunset, and Basra’s tendency to abandon maintenance for new creations. Shanvi dies in the Komodo Unyielding hangar disaster after refusing to vent a hangar while barefaced crew remain inside. Basra later honors her with a statue on Mount Aket, but Adrian Ma says the statue fails to capture Shanvi’s face.
