Overview
Lysa is the narrator’s household and identity assistant in “Presence.” Lysa manages connected devices, calls, searches, and administrative tasks through voice or wall-based interfaces.
Role
Lysa admits the Presence device into the narrator’s identity after asking for permission. The narrator also uses Lysa to reapply for basic income, search old conversations, find a product page, and attempt to call Taylor Martine.
Late in the story, Lysa tells the narrator that Taylor’s identity has been deactivated because Taylor has died. This response reveals that the narrator’s social systems have tracked Taylor’s death even though the narrator has not.
