Overview

Vincent Becker is a senior figure at The MILPREP Corporation in Current Affairs. He is fifty-something, gray-haired, husky-voiced, scarred and sunspotted, and usually suited.

Becker recruits Calvin Munn into MILPREP’s defense-media work and frames media as a tool for preparing the national spirit for war. He becomes Calvin’s mentor, disciplinarian, and later the man Calvin saves at the Hudson Yards rally.

Biography

Becker meets Calvin at a Gravesend cigar club after Nik Marlan gives Calvin his contact information. He tells Calvin to prepare for DCSA scrutiny and assigns him to study federally supported films as national-mission media.

After Calvin clears, Becker sends him into MILPREP’s Current Affairs department, redirects his work toward RINIC and Pacific-region messaging, and later assigns him to the Pearl Harbor documentary project. Becker also protects the office when Calvin’s personal conduct threatens the clearance and public-relations situation.

Following the USNS Mercy attack, Becker asks Calvin to speak at the Hudson Yards rally. Calvin notices the bomb in the lectern and warns Becker before the detonation. Becker survives, and after Calvin’s hospitalization he connects Arthur Sedki to Justice Department contacts handling online praise of the bomber.
