Overview
Brad Miller is Amanda Bannington’s acting-class acquaintance, affair partner, and later armed protector in A Cancellation. He is broadly built, tall, handsome in a brutish way, scruffy, blond, and wears a cracked real-leather rocker jacket.
Brad first approaches Amanda outside the Toluca Lake acting studio. He says he worked with Amanda’s acting teacher for a year and insults the teacher after seeing him criticize her. Amanda has sex with Brad in his RV soon afterward.
Relationship with Amanda
Amanda hides Brad from Andy Field by calling him an acting coach and instructing Nam Hae-jin to be discreet. Andy tells Amanda that Brad has a criminal record involving bar fights and lives in a camper, but Amanda denies the affair.
After Andy leaves, Brad becomes more openly present in Amanda’s life. Amanda brings him to a Bannington family cookout, calls him to the house at night, and later sends him to threaten Andy at a hotel. Brad kicks in Andy’s suite door and warns him against posting more videos or seeing Amanda again.
Death
Brad is homeless and lives in his camper, where he keeps a sawed-off shotgun for protection. After Amanda’s brand collapse, he picks her up from LAX in the RV. Amanda later asks him to bring the shotgun inside because she claims a creepy man online may come to the house.
When FBI agents arrive at 1387 John L. Vega Road, Amanda tells Brad there is an unknown armed man outside rather than clearly identifying law enforcement. Brad opens the front door with the shotgun and is shot dead by an FBI agent. His death becomes part of Amanda Bannington’s criminal case and Hae-jin’s later series.
