Overview
1387 John L. Vega Road is Amanda Bannington’s house in Encino in A Cancellation. Amanda buys the single-story ranch home in 2019 and lives there with Andy Field and Kale Flores.
The house functions less as a personalized home than as a production base, dining place, and emotional pressure chamber for Amanda’s creator life. It is the main location for AmandaHere work, Susie Sparkles shoots, livestreams, response videos, rehearsals, and private conflict.
Production Base
Nam Hae-jin’s first Susie shoot takes place at the house and in its backyard. Amanda’s master bathroom becomes a transformation space for Susie, the dining table becomes a set for a late-night response video, and the backyard becomes rehearsal space for Amanda’s live show.
The house is also where Amanda receives hand-delivered Phantom letters and packages from Henry Owens. Because some deliveries appear at the threshold or in the mail stack without postage, the house becomes a place where Amanda’s private fantasy of being watched overlaps with real stalking.
Crises
Several of Amanda’s major personal breaks occur at the house. Andy catches Brad Miller there and leaves the relationship. Amanda later returns after the cancelled tour to find the neighborhood outwardly unchanged while teenage boys try to photograph her through the window.
The final crisis at the house occurs when FBI agents come looking for Amanda. Amanda misleads Brad into believing an unknown armed man is outside, and Brad is shot dead at the front entryway when he opens the door with a shotgun.
