Overview
Chloe is an immigration lawyer in Scenebux and Ben Etxina’s long-term girlfriend at the start of the novel. Ben nicknames her The Leviathan, a name that reflects his resentment of their domestic and financial arrangement rather than her public role.
Ben presents Chloe as nearly his height when she wears heels, with black hair usually pulled into a ponytail, long legs, and tailored professional clothing.
Relationship with Ben
Chloe and Ben have lived together for six years. She controls the housing situation and is more stable professionally, while Ben is dependent on her after leaving screen-based work and supporting himself through erotic fiction. Their relationship is already breaking down when Ben meets Lin Jiao and begins watching Chloe’s location through her laptop because he suspects she is spending time at Bick Preppen’s place.
Chloe ends the relationship while Ben is away, telling him that her therapist helped her understand that it is already over. Later, after Ben returns from the Dubai and Laos sequence, she helps him retrieve his belongings. Their final intimate domestic moment confirms for Ben that the relationship no longer has a sexual or romantic future.
Legal Role
Chloe becomes important again after Gabriel Findhom frames Ben with drugs in Dubai. She researches the UAE charges and extradition issues, and her firm helps force a resolution by tipping UAE authorities about Findhom. She tells Ben that Findhom has been arrested and that the international charge against Ben will be dropped if he never returns to the UAE.
Chloe brings Bick Preppen into Ben’s post-Dubai legal situation. They advise Ben that no red notice, charge, or crime is likely to remain, though they also suggest a civil action against Enward Capital, which Ben declines.
