Overview
The Green Flower proprietor is the owner of Green Flower Chinese in Current Affairs. She is a middle-aged Chinese woman with kind eyes, thick jet-black hair reaching about to her shoulders, warm-toned skin, and a practical clothes. Calvin notices that she wears no lipstick and sees a wisp of hair at her temple.
She is linked to Calvin Munn through a brief Valentine’s Day encounter that becomes one of Calvin’s attempts to find warmth outside his deteriorating marriage to Rebecca Sedki.
Role
Calvin enters Green Flower Chinese while drunk and looking for dumplings. The proprietor watches a Valentine’s couple with wistful interest, accepts a paper rose from Calvin, and shares illicit rice wine with him after the restaurant is otherwise empty.
The sexual encounter moves into the restaurant’s storeroom and then to the proprietor’s Brooklyn home. Calvin later returns to Green Flower Chinese and learns that she is married; her husband had been in China caring for his father.
