Overview

Hatset is a Mahav separatist leader in Komodo. He is invoked by militants as a spiritual and political authority before appearing in person at the Unitary-Mahav peace summit aboard Komodo Unyielding.

Hatset is a small elderly man with wide glossy eyes, a ritual headdress, and a plain fitted tunic. His physical modesty contrasts with the fear and reverence attached to his name.

Role

The first references to Hatset come through Mahav separatists who treat him as an omniscient figure tied to ancestral return. Mova Hitar’s hostage-taking at Victory Salon and the child attacker on Asteroid G60 both connect to the same broader separatist world that believes unitary power has suppressed Mahav life, worship, and funerary custom.

Lawrence Kona’s Handshake Initiative brings Hatset to the summit with President Joel DeSilva. Hatset accepts DeSilva’s gesture toward peace and says they should take peace, briefly opening a path away from war. That choice leads to his death. The Lion denounces Hatset for accepting peace, pins him to the rune on a separatist supership, and burns him alive with the vessel’s engines.
