Overview
the Lion is a Mahav militant leader and antagonist in Komodo. He rejects the Hatset’s peace with the Democratic System Unitary and launches a terror campaign meant to liberate the outworld from unitary control.
Role
The Lion announces himself after the unitary supreme court attack. In a video proclamation, he appears as a sinewy Mahav figure in a golden mask, claims to have given up clan, marriage, and ordinary personhood, and burns Hatset alive on a separatist supership. His attacks create the crisis that helps Basra Kusniqa Camden justify Komodo’s militarization.
The Lion’s forces include Immolator, his flagship, and the asteroid base destroyed by Komodo One’s microwave attack. He also reaches supporters through channels that lead to Antun Marek’s attempt on Basra at Whitehaven University. Basra treats him as both an enemy and a strategic opportunity, using his violence to accelerate Komodo’s claim that only Komodo can protect the outworlds.
After Rose Concannon secretly captures Immolator for Komodo, the Lion is taken alive. Basra later reveals him to Kimberley Ronan as the bandaged man in the Unyielding interrogation airlock. He is ejected into space with Kimberley after her failed rebellion.
