Overview
Katherine Bannington is Amanda Bannington’s twin sister in A Cancellation. She was formerly Amanda’s partner in the Kat and Panda Show, an early joint-vlog project that Amanda avoids discussing in public.
Katherine is described with brown bobbed hair, a jeweled nose stud, flared houndstooth trousers, and a sharp leather jacket. She jokingly introduces herself to Nam Hae-jin as “the evil twin” when they meet outside the Bannington family house.
Family History
Katherine’s history is a source of shame and conflict inside the Bannington family. Amanda publicly names Katherine’s past meth and heroin use during a family confrontation, while Katherine asks whether someone who was happy and supported would have made those choices. Amanda also suggests reviving their old collaboration, which Katherine understands as an attempt to bring Kat back out for engagement.
Katherine plays music with Midnight Calling and records at Desert Altar Studios. When Maya Wright approaches her there, Katherine lowers her guard, buys Maya food, and talks about childhood hardship after Maya discusses gender exploration. Maya secretly records the conversation and turns it into a viral video.
Later Role
Amanda pressures Katherine to deny Maya’s story and threatens to protect her own livelihood if Katherine refuses. Katherine later tells Amanda that Maya deleted the recordings to avoid legal trouble, but the public damage continues.
After Andy leaves Amanda, Katherine meets him at a bar while sober and drinking Liquid Death. She says Amanda always has to make things the Amanda show, but she does not exploit Andy’s distress. When he drunkenly tries to kiss her, she immediately rejects him.
