Overview

Maya Wright is a teenage Amanda Bannington fan and critic in A Cancellation. She has short blue-dyed hair, says she is from Costa Mesa, and first approaches Amanda at an Encino craft store after tracking her through details Amanda has mentioned in videos.

Maya brings Amanda an old Kat and Panda Show poster and asks whether Katherine Bannington might appear on Amanda’s channel. Amanda shuts the conversation down when Maya alludes to family rumors.

Maya later approaches Katherine at Desert Altar Studios, pretends not to recognize her, and draws out a conversation about childhood harm after discussing her own gender exploration. She secretly records Katherine and uploads an eleven-minute video accusing Amanda and the Bannington family of harming Kat and Amanda’s vulnerable queer community.

Amanda responds by publicly characterizing Maya as an unstable minor, stalker fan, and liar. Katherine later reports that Maya deleted the recordings to avoid legal trouble, but the video remains one of the central early blows against Amanda’s reputation.

Newport Confrontation

Maya attends Amanda’s Newport solo preview with blue hair and tries to film from the front row. Amanda recognizes her from the stage and uses the Susie persona to call her a stalker and predator, mock her appearance and sexuality, and drive her from the room.

Ken Lang later warns Amanda that the incident will appear to be obvious retaliation against an underage gay fan when seen alongside Maya’s earlier video and Amanda’s response.
