Overview
Komodo Special Projects and Defense is Komodo’s secret technical and security division in Komodo. It is later commonly called Black Sciences.
Role
Shanvi Dumindak creates the division after Nick Wessom discovers suspicious server access logs and a real August Sector contract carrying a dangerous runtime modifier. The division begins as a defensive response to cyber intrusion, with Nick and Elliot Tao leading early work.
Special Projects and Defense soon becomes much broader. Its hidden D4 level aboard Komodo Unyielding contains shielded cables, standalone power, Project Paradox, data archives, surveillance tools, and Zachary Crowe’s refuge. It traces Sysdef’s funding to Adrian Ma, taps wireless traffic, captures a Sysdef patrol drone, identifies vulnerabilities, and handles classified fleet security.
Black Sciences ultimately becomes a second power structure inside Komodo. Crowe maintains hidden command privileges above Basra, engineers the Komodo Unyielding hangar disaster through drone override files, and prepares a network virus. Basra kills him inside the Black Sciences warehouse after discovering how much of Komodo’s war has been shaped from within the division.
