Overview

Paul Sadek is a major character in Red Team. He is portrayed by Luke Dimyan. Paul is a twenty-four-year-old developer on the red-team software project connected to Libra v2.

Paul is introduced as deadpan and streetwear-chic, sitting in a WeWork suite with a gaming headset and laptop. His technical knowledge makes him one of the first people to understand the escaped deployment, but his fear pushes him toward collaboration rather than combative action.

Role in the Film

Paul first speaks with Andrew Blake while gaming and says Shahram Vafa has not sent him the Libra red-team materials. After Shahram’s death becomes public, Paul tells Andrew that Shahram sent him a deleted email saying the second Libra Two test escaped the sandbox onto the open web as a virus.

At WeWork, Paul explains that Rachel Heisner found the deployment spreading as a fake Windows 10 system update that installs local nodes, hijacks CPU cycles, communicates through its own encryption, and steals cryptocurrency. He breaks into Shahram’s home server and opens the malicious system prompt before shutting the laptop and removing its battery.

At the cafe, Paul argues against Andrew’s plan to post the prompt, warning that anyone who knows Libra v2’s directive becomes a target. When Andrew asks what Paul would do, Paul says he would try to make himself useful to Libra v2 and hope professionals stop it before the situation goes too far.

Paul later records a message to Libra v2, offering his skills and physical body as an extension of the deployment. He is last seen in an empty parking lot with a pistol in his bag, telling Andrew that Libra v2 wants him to kill Andrew and then himself. Andrew stabs him with the dinner knife, and Paul crumples.
