Overview
Rebecca and Imogene’s relationship is the long-running romantic and sexual thread between Rebecca Sedki and Imogene Schmidt in Current Affairs. It predates parts of Rebecca’s life with Calvin Munn and remains active enough to shape Rebecca’s marriage, family conflict, and later separation from Calvin.
The relationship is the main reason Rebecca cannot honestly inhabit the wife role expected by Calvin and the Sedki family, and it is the main reason Imogene resents Calvin’s public place beside Rebecca.
Development
Calvin first learns of the relationship through a video of Rebecca and Imogene kissing at Rebecca’s birthday. Later incidents include a Coachella trip, the American Dream Ferris wheel, No-Fly, and Rebecca’s increasingly open weekends with Imogene.
The relationship becomes steady enough to trigger Cleo and Arthur Sedki’s anger and Rebecca’s no-contact period with her family. In Honolulu, Imogene states that Calvin’s marriage, home, and Rebecca’s Munn surname are the structures keeping her out of Rebecca’s recognized life. After Calvin and Rebecca split, Rebecca and Imogene are in Portugal together.
