Rosalita is Ben Etxina’s sister and a Sedona resident who gives him a place to stay during the Hammett investigation. The siblings are Idaho Basque, and Ben describes them as looking nearly identical. In Homonoid, she wears a gold streak in her brown hair and jade jewelry and has a tan he associates with hiking.
In Scenebux, Ben describes her as an animal-hospital receptionist interested in crystals and occult ideas. She later tells him she has left her boyfriend, considers dermatology and urges him to cultivate more masculine energy. In Homonoid, Ben assumes she works at one of Sedona’s crystal shops without knowing which.
Home and family
Rosalita drives a worn mint-green Prius and lives in a one-room trailer near Mountain Shadows Drive and Pony Soldier Road. A window cooler leaks beside the bed. She keeps an illustrated logbook for UFOs and cryptids and asks Ben to record sightings while staying there. He declines to use the psychoactive substances she offers.
At Lin Jiao’s request, Rosalita collects Ben from Phoenix airport. She stays with her boyfriend so he can use the trailer, leaving him sheets and food. Ben later brings Lin back after the pursuit of Jordan Damour, cleans Lin’s injured feet and helps her set up the computer equipment recovered from his hotel room. Rosalita’s boyfriend offers assistance finding counsel when Ben calls about the police investigation.
Lin subsequently leaves Ben’s Glock with Rosalita rather than carrying it to Macau. Once his new business opens, Ben asks his employee Felicity to arrange its return.
