Overview

The War Economy Board is a wartime economic agency in Burn Zone. Kelly Pearson works with the board and brings its food and medicine timelines into the Brunn meeting.

Role

Kelly explains that the board can keep the country fed indefinitely through an agricultural austerity plan that shifts production away from ranching and dairy and toward dry farming and staple crops. She also uses War Economy Board logistics to propose a way of moving the Fort Drum nuclear device.

The austerity plan emphasizes wheat, potatoes, corn, and cassava while reducing beef, dairy, most fruit, and leafy greens. Kelly frames those sacrifices as survivable compared with occupation, and her board role makes her one of the meeting’s practical authorities on the home front.

Her logistics proposal uses food semis, Richmond storeyards, and banana shipments to make radiation scans appear plausible while the device is moved into position for the domestic nuclear deterrent plan. The plan depends on War Economy Board personnel who, according to Kelly, will not ask questions.
