Kelly Pearson is a War Economy Board official in Burn Zone. She is divorced, has at least one child, and is accustomed to being the only woman in high-level meetings.
Role
Kelly arrives late to Rupert Brunn’s May 28 meeting while speaking to her child by phone. She brings knowledge of wartime food and medicine timelines, explains the agricultural austerity plan, and proposes using War Economy Board food shipments to move a nuclear device under cover of banana shipments.
Kelly is one of the strongest advocates for removing Avett from the picture and for refusing occupation terms. She supports the domestic nuclear deterrent plan, says the deaths would be instant, and says she would push the button in a heartbeat.
When Carter Clemens rejects the plan, Kelly threatens Sara Clemens and the boys to force his silence. In the tribunal, Lorianna Blackstone confronts Kelly with the May 28 recording from Kelly’s own glasses and phone. Kelly is sentenced to death by firing squad for crimes against humanity and is executed before Rupert faces the wall.
