Overview
Avett is the wartime American president in Burn Zone. He is the leader whose possible peace concessions drive the May 28 Brunn meeting.
Role
The meeting attendees believe Avett is preparing to accept terms that will compromise American autonomy, including Coalition occupation, nuclear disarmament, and forced economic changes. Kelly Pearson and Rupert Brunn argue that Avett must be prevented from making unacceptable concessions.
The discussion initially centers on removing Avett from the picture or cutting him out of civil-defense coordination. It later gives way to the domestic nuclear deterrent plan, which the conspirators imagine as leverage against a Coalition landing rather than only against Avett.
After the war, Coalition propaganda presents Avett as a discredited former leader sent to ADX Adirondacks and replaced at the Resolute Desk by a successor named Saunlin.
