Overview
Ba’at is a leopard-associated Dimatian goddess in Calinitia Dreaming. Adon Halicar keeps a two-foot shrine statue of her and makes offerings of tobacco and herbs. Her intact eyes later matter because false blank-eyed effigies are shown to corrupt prayer.
Ba’at guides, rebukes, withdraws from, and finally recommissions Adon as her champion.
Role
Ba’at first intervenes when Adon invokes her during Guinevere Hail’s ritual crisis. She later directs him toward the buried Ba’at temple, demands that it be restored to sunlight and priestesses, and withdraws patronage when he says he cannot save it alone.
After Adon renews his commitment, Ba’at makes him her champion in the act of saving the world. At the end, after the temple is destroyed and Adon is aboard the Aurorandia, she tells him to stay and says, “This is the temple.”
