Overview
Eric Schriefer is a captain in “Locked In.” He commands Jim Duag and Garth Jensen during an Idaho Militia patrol through northern Oregon.
Biography
Schriefer is nicknamed Homelander by Jensen. Duag describes him as an older soldier with twenty years in the Idaho Guard and two more years on the front of the war against Free Oregon.
At the beginning of the story, Schriefer leads the team west while trying to clear Interstate 84 for armor. He worries about embers because dry spring growth could burn and disrupt the advance. He also destroys a sealed Chinese ration packet found at an abandoned camp because he believes it may be a poisoned trap.
Near Memaloose Overlook, Schriefer directs an attack on a Free Oregon anti-armor position. He throws a grenade into the emplacement, then orders the team to advance after the blast. When Jensen later begins abusing a wounded fighter, Schriefer tells him to stop.
Schriefer is gravely wounded when an FPV drone strikes the hillside. He is last seen lying wounded after the blast, before Jensen shoots him and claims that Schriefer silently asked for it.
