Overview

Henry Owens is Amanda Bannington’s stalker in A Cancellation. Before revealing his name, he styles himself as the Phantom and sends Amanda gifts, letters, photographs, drawings, and perfume that mix romantic theater with direct proof that he can reach her home.

Henry’s early identity is uncertain to Amanda. She wonders whether Michael Senesky sent the packages, but Michael denies it. Amanda is frightened by the hand-delivered letters and also flattered by their intensity, which makes the Phantom part of her private fantasy life before he becomes openly dangerous.

The Phantom

The Phantom sends Amanda a Hermes scarf and later a scented letter referring to it as his scarf. He asks her for signs and notices when she wears the scarf publicly at her Wiltern performance. A later package contains perfume, photos, and drawings of Amanda in the scarf, showing that he has watched her responses.

After CreatorCon, Henry offers Amanda secret work against an old paramour. Amanda interprets the offer as a way to punish Sugar Chibi and posts a coded Instagram signal. Soon after, Sugar Chibi’s Dubai leak spreads through Amanda’s fan spaces. Henry later says he served Amanda by smiting Sugar Chibi.

Reveal and Arrest

Henry reveals himself inside Amanda’s Polestar after her tour and brand have collapsed. The narration identifies him as the man who approached Amanda at CreatorCon under the pretense of offering better representation. He grabs Amanda by the neck and offers to kill Michael, Andy Field, or any target she names.

Amanda names Sapphire Van Ness as the person who caused everything. Henry accepts the target, but the later HeyHiHaejin account says the FBI arrests him before he can strike against Sapphire.
