Overview
Wigland is a biker associated with the East Bay Vintage German Motorcycle Enthusiast Association in Scenebux. He is initially unnamed, but Lin Jiao later identifies him by name when discussing whether he will attend Edgelands.
Ben first perceives Wigland as a stout, scruffy, middle-aged blond biker in raw denim and cowhide. A party photo makes him look to Ben like a heavier Ryan Gosling with close-set eyes and yellow irises, and Ben later calls him a blond bruiser in a black leather motorcycle jacket.
Conflict with Ben
Wigland is part of the wealthy blond biker group that blocks the alley behind Ben Etxina and Chloe’s home. He punches Ben after Ben slaps his finger away. Ben later misreads Wigland’s T-marked ring as proof that the group is called T’s Terrors, but the ring points to a motorcycle service center rather than the association’s actual name.
Ben later damages Wigland’s vintage BMW motorcycle with Lin’s help. Wigland catches Ben in the act and later blocks Ben’s Waymo outside Nero Kahane’s Oakland party. The conflict pushes Ben toward Max Pacifica, T4, and the wider plot.
Coastal confrontation
Wigland parks a vintage BMW motorcycle near the California coastal promontory where Ben is writing and walks toward him. In Homonoid, Ben recounts trying to throw his attacker from the cliff, only for both men to fall roughly fifty feet to the shore. The biker’s body breaks Ben’s fall.
Ben walks for help despite a broken arm and concussion and tells rescuers where to find the other man. A Coast Guard helicopter evacuates the biker. Ben later describes him as living in Florida and being fed through a tube.
