Overview
Max Pacifica is a Yale graduate and tech startup founder in Scenebux and the owner of a house on Little Saint Demeter. He is connected to GetBrain, preclassical AI, the T4 Fund, and the hidden story around Monarcha.
When Ben arrives on Little Saint Demeter, Max strikes Ben as young, sun-kissed, and muscular.
T4 and AI Work
Max answers Ben Etxina’s call after Lin Jiao gives Ben his number. He says he knows the T4 people and invites Ben to Little Saint Demeter to discuss them in person.
On the island, Max explains that he raised money for GetBrain and lives partly on company-treasury yield. His AI work involves an ancient-language base layer and a translator layer, an approach meant to avoid modern conceptual contamination. Max regrets taking T4 money and warns Ben that the organization is merciless.
Max also tells Ben that T4 hides cold-contact information in Aeschylus puzzles. After his death, Jacaranda Rosenbaum-Josselewicz says he told her about Monarcha, and Easton Cannonade says Max had an affair with the creator of T4.
Death
Max dies on Little Saint Demeter after missing a jump across a volcanic crevasse and striking the back of his head on obsidian. His death brings the Coast Guard to the south side of the island and causes Ben and Jacaranda to leave. Gabriel Findhom later accuses Ben of killing Max, but Ben denies it.
