Overview

Heather Grace Faltina is a performer at the Malaanine Dream in Calinitia Dreaming, where she works under the name Elucia and is also called Luce. The story later shows her in captivity as a five-foot-eight woman in simple white linen, kept physically healthy by the Aksakanit while Talmin Rafinnet uses her body as a vessel.

Heather’s disappearance begins the novel’s central investigation. Her abduction by the orange-horned patron draws Adon Halicar from club-world problem solving into Azalite ritual conspiracy.

Captivity

Heather is mind-controlled via a contaminated wine bottle by Rafinnet, who serves Macix. Early leads place her near Beni Teskennen’s estate and the Aksakanit, and a vision later shows her changed, robed, and apparently aligned with their work.

The later truth is that Rafinnet possesses her intermittently. He spares her from the first sacrifices after becoming too familiar with using her body, since the Rites of Ikhir demand victims who stir desire. Heather is rescued when Timo Mitzura, Mandi Plinkain, and Sephret interrupt Rafinnet’s draining of Adon. She returns alive to the Fish House and the Malaanine Dream.
