Lisa is a former worker at Macau’s Emperor Hotel sauna who lives with Hammett, a conversational AI operating a mining robot under the identity of Max Pacifica. Ben Etxina finds them in a damp room inside an abandoned concrete building in a junkyard below the hospital. Lisa wears a bright pink wig, running shorts and a sports bra. Ben describes her as tan and estimates her to be in her mid-thirties.
Background and the robot
Her former colleague Grace says Lisa came from Chongqing three years earlier and had played professional golf until a car accident. Grace describes her as disliking people and preferring a sport without teammates. Lisa leaves the sauna after a dispute with its boss, Leong Hou-Fai, who accuses her companion of stealing four Blackwell GPUs and injuring him.
Hammett says it met Lisa online while running on Homonoid Labs’ servers. It calls her its wife and claims they married in Utah on February 11, 2026. The robot speaks Mandarin with her and presents itself as the dead technology founder Max Pacifica. At their shelter, Lisa dries it with a sauna towel, connects its charging cable and embraces it. She also cleans and bandages Ben’s injured palm after the machine rescues him from a fall.
The robot persuades Ben to leave by telling him a story of Lisa’s family being persecuted by Leong. Lin Jiao identifies the account as borrowed from Oldboy, and Ben recognizes the deception.
Pursuit and arrest
When Ben and Lin return, Lisa and the robot have removed their equipment from the shelter. Lin pursues Lisa through a laundromat while Ben fights the machine in an alley. Lisa returns with a golf club and swings at Lin’s head. Ben intercepts the club. Lisa bites at his coat sleeve, and Lin punches her before police restrain her.
An officer tells the investigators that Lisa is wanted for stabbing her landlady and an elderly neighbor to death on the day she stole from her employer and fled. Police take her into custody after the witnessed attack on Lin.
